My Story: About 6
years ago I bought my first digital SLR camera and I had no idea
how to use it. Sure I had used an old manual Pentax K1000
film camera and I had a nice Sony point and shoot camera but they
didn't prepare me for all of the new functions, features, and
software for this new dSLR.
Does this sound like you?
Do you have a new expensive camera and you're still using it in
full auto modes to take snapshots?
I dedicated all of my
spare time to learning photography and this new technology and now
three cameras and 6 years later I finally have it all figured out.
Oh, and I also went through
that expensive phase where I figured that new equipment would make
me a better photographer. So let me save you a lot of time
and money. New equipment doesn't make you a "better
photographer"! Knowledge
and experience is
what will make you a better photographer.
So then it hit me.
That's it, that's my niche, I've been a teacher of science and
technology for the past 19 years. It's a natural fit, I
should teach people how to master the art of digital photography.
The classes and workshops
you see listed below are all here to help you learn how to control
of that expensive camera and become a better photographer. The classes will give you the proper background knowledge you need
and the workshops or photo shoots will give you the hands on
experience you need to master your camera.
If you see a TBD (to be determined) class or workshop
that you want to take please contact me at
(401) 285-1501 and I will let you know as soon as at least 2 people
have signed up for the class.

camera and they don't know how to use it properly. Gift
Certificates for classes make for great gifts for these beginning
photographers.

photography and you want to put this new knowledge into practice

This class will meet once per week for 4 weeks from 7-9 pm for a
total of 8 hours. Participants are required to bring a laptop
to follow along with hands on exercises unless you are fine with
just observing and note taking.
This class will use Version 3 and
will focus on using Lightroom for photographers. Lightroom
is a new program by Adobe that is specifically designed for
photographers. It's easier to learn than Photoshop and can
process images in a shorter time. This class will be a
demonstration unless you have your own copy of Lightroom.
This class is for photographers who
would like to make better prints by improving their color
management techniques. This class is for students who are
willing to put in time, money and effort in to make fine quality
prints. Students taking this class will get the most out of
it if they have (or intend to purchase) a good quality photo
printer and a monitor/printer profiling device.
People always ask me
should I take the class or the workshop and I tell them you really
need both. The class will give you all the theory behind the
things you need to know to be a good photographer but the "shoot
with me workshop" will give you the hands on experience you need
to put this new knowledge into practice.
